Placement Tips

Hanging art may seem simple, but the right height and placement make a huge difference. Not only for how the piece looks, but also for how well it’s preserved. With these quick tips, you’ll display your art beautifully and protect it for years to come.

1. The ideal height: 145–155 cm at eye level

The most common gallery rule:

  • Hang the center of the artwork at about 150 cm.

This matches average eye level, creating a natural and balanced look.
If you're hanging multiple pieces:

  • Treat them as a group, with the central line around the same height.

  • Along a staircase, let the height follow the slope of the stairs.

2. Consider the room

  • In a living room, where people often sit, you can hang artwork slightly lower (140–145 cm).

  • In a hallway or kitchen, where people stand, hang it slightly higher (155–160 cm).

  • Above a sofa, dresser, or bed, leave at least 20–30 cm between the furniture and the frame.

3. Keep distance from heat source

Heaters, fireplaces, and AC units can create temperature swings that dry out or distort the artwork.
Leave at least 1 meter of distance.
